Flashback Friday time again… I still haven’t lived this one down!

“And Now I’m Off to the Funny Farm…”

Well, folks, it’s official. Tom and the kids will soon start looking at nice homes for me to live in where the rooms are all padded and they play nothing but soft, soothing canned muzak. Or maybe I’ll be the youngest person ever to enter into an Alzheimer’s care facility. I don’t know what, but something has to be done!

Let me explain by first stating this: I am the WORLD’S WORST MOTHER. I’m not proud of it, and I really have tried to do better, but there it is. I yam what I yam, as Popeye would say it…

wisdom wednesday – 25 april 2012

This is the last week of the semester for me, and I honestly have wondered more than once this last week if I will make it to Friday without totally losing my mind.

For today’s “Wisdom Wednesday,” I had planned on having some sort of an inspiring quote about the value of education. However, after posting news of my impending breakdown on Facebook yesterday, one of my friends posted the following, which has become my rallying cry to get through the next few days.

So, without further ado, here is what’s inspiring me this week:

“Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming…”

I’m trying, Dory. I’m trying…

flashback friday – 13 september 2008

It’s been so fun going back through my old blog and dusting off some of these old stories.  This one is from September 2008 and talks about one of the times that God gave me the desires of my heart: a microwave cart, just when I needed it!

In my Folklore class that I’m taking, we have to do a “collection project.” For mine, I decided to collect stories from people about times that God has worked in their lives in a supernatural way: in other words, that it could only have come from Him.  It’s been amazing and humbling to hear all the stories, and brought me to tears more than once.  Hopefully I’ll be able to share some of them here as well (but only with their permission).

Anyhoo – from the archives:

“You Know God Loves You When…”

…He gives you a microwave cart!

Alright, I know that’s a little bit weird, but it’s true. Let me explain.

Love our Cache Valley mountain views. Even if there is snow still showing...

I’m still trying to figure out this whole “WordPress thing,” so this is my next attempt at creating a “snapshots” page to showcase my photography. Apparently you can’t have two pages with different posts on them, but you can create a custom menu that will pull the photo categories.  So here we go… Gonna try it!

Stay tuned…

And now an update: apparently custom menus remove my regular page menus (about, reading list) but only allow you one menu button. So… if you want to see all of my posts with pictures, you can just click on “Snapshots” in the category list and it will bring them all up. Not perfect, but workable!

“Mother Nature is providential. She gives us twelve years to develop a love for our children before turning them into teenagers.”

~William Galvin

Savannah turns 13 in a little over a month, but she may as well be 16 already with her emotions running the gamut from giddiness, to anger, to sadness, all in a 5-minute span.

It’s making my head spin trying to keep up!

For years she has wanted to take dance lessons, but it was never in the budget, either time- or money-wise. This year, I finally relented and she started once-weekly lessons in January.

flashback friday – 22 August 2008

This is one of my favorites from the archives.  Unfortunately, since originally writing this post, we have had untold numbers of nighttime conversations just like this, with Tom supplying different excuses for “Why” he can’t just roll over… It’s a good thing I love the man or I might be tempted to smother him in his sleep! (she says, kiddingly?)

Late-night conversations…

In dishonor of tax time, I thought I’d highlight a few of my favorite tax/IRS quotes:

“What is the difference between a taxidermist and a tax collector? The taxidermist takes only your skin.”

~Mark Twain

“I’m proud to pay taxes in the United States; the only thing is, I could be just as proud for half the money.”

~Arthur Godfrey

“It’s income tax time again, Americans: time to gather up those receipts, get out those tax forms, sharpen up that pencil, and stab yourself in the aorta.”

~Dave Barry

And, finally, another Mark Twain quote (you’ll be seeing lots of his on this blog -  I think the man was a genius!):

“We’ve got so much taxation. I don’t know of a single foreign product that enters this country untaxed except the answer to prayer.”

Happy filing!

Here’s another fun one from the archives. Meniere’s still is a constant battle – as is the longing for salsa! – but I haven’t had any major dizzy spells for about a year now…

Hello.

My name is Tracy, and I’m a saltaholic…
